SOFCANIS B12
Composition:
Magnesium carbonate - Processed animal protein. Additive per kg: Vitamin B12: 960,000 µg (corresponding to 500 µg per scored tablet). Analytical constituents : Crude protein: 11.8% - Crude fat: 4.1% - Crude ash: 16.8% - Crude fiber: 45.2% - Moisture: 3.05% - Sodium: 0.24% - Phosphorus: 0.2% - Potassium: 0.2%.
Use:
Helps to restore liver reserves of vitamin B12 in dogs and cats.
When a vitamin B12 deficiency appears usual (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, chronic enteropathy, cholangitis, etc.), parenteral administration of this vitamin, in high doses, once a week, is the rule in both human and veterinary practice.
However, it has been demonstrated, in humans, that a high dose of vitamin B12, per os, daily, allows to obtain the same result as a weekly parenteral administration, thanks to the phenomenon of passive diffusion which concerns 1% of the vitamin B12 ingested: this passive diffusion allows contributions greater than the natural possibilities obtained with the intrinsic factor.
Unassimilated vitamin B12 (99%) is eliminated mainly through the urine, imparting a red tint to the urine.
Daily dose during the initial period:
The very low levels of phosphorus, potassium and sodium are compatible with dietary regimes for subjects with heart or kidney failure.
